Executive Board
President: Michael Carmody
Mike is a rising senior, and thrilled to once again be a part of the Slivka Exec Board as President. Formerly the Treasurer of Slivka, he is planning on completing a major in Economics, with a minor in Psychology, and will explain why an Econ major is President of the Engineering College if you ask (it's a long story). He is living proof that you can be both a huge geek and still have a social life, and enjoys scuba diving, video games, coaching basketball, and playing frisbee when he isn't helping to make Slivka the best place to be at Northwestern.
Vice President: Stephanie Hemmelgarn
Stephanie is really excited to be serving Slivka as Vice-President for the next year. She is currently a Junior studying Biomedical Engineering, focusing in Biomechanics. In addition to hanging out in Slivka for the past three years, Stephanie has also been involved in Northwestern's Dance Marathon and NU Ski Trip. She enjoys listening to and memorizing an absurd number of musicals, water/snow skiing, wake/snowboarding, and wrestling with her golden retriever, Chelsea. Overall, she can be described as one of the loudest people in Slivka, so if you need her for some reason, all you have to do is listen and you will probably hear her singing somewhere in the building.
Treasurer: Jacob Jozefiak
Jacob is the current Treasurer of Slivka. He is looking forward to help keep Slivka as the number one Residential College at Northwestern. He is a rising Chemical Engineering Junior, Classical Studies of Greek and Roman Histories Minor. He is involved in multiple on campus organizations and research. In his sparse free time, he enjoys the outdoors and spending time with friends.
Academic Chair: Mattia Livraghi
Mattia's range of interests is probably one of the most peculiar of Slivka, including Star Trek, mathematics and computer science. Mattia could spend a lot of time on each of these every day, so he is lucky that participating in Slivka exec has recently kept him busy with a more "normal" life. Curious life episodes: Mattia has been almost on the top of the "White Mount" in the Italian Alps, he has visited a laboratory two-thousand meters underground and has rolled down a sandy dune in Israel. He is very excited about developing Slivka's intellectual environment for the next year.
Faculty Chair: Isabelle Orrico
Isabelle is super psyched to be Slivka's Faculty Chair. She can't wait to help make Slivka even more awesome! She is a freshman in McCormick. She still hasn't picked her major but she's leaning towards Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Isabelle loves going to watch NU's awesome student run plays and concerts She also really likes running. Isabelle may be the second loudest person in Slivka after Stephanie. She also tends to say a lot of dumb things that make for hilarious quotes.
Social Chair: Matt Chan
Matt can't wait to meet the new freshmen of Slivka! He is a rising junior and will is the current Social Chair of Slivka. He is majoring in computer engineering with a potential minor in computer science and is a member of IEEE at Northwestern. During the fall and spring, Matt will be constantly asking people if they want to play football, soccer, or ultimate frisbee, and during the wintertime, he can be seen playing too much Madden for his own good.
He has been told multiple times that his face without smiling gives looks angry at the world, but he is friendly and open to conversation!
Philanthropy Chair: Sarah Uttal
Sarah is the current philanthropy chair who could not be more excited for this upcoming year! She is a sophomore biomedical engineering major, global health minor, pre-med. She is involved with many on campus organizations and loves playing tennis and badminton. If you ever hear of a spontaneous rec lounge dance party, she probably started it.
Facilities Chair: Holden Faber
Holden is thrilled to act as Slivka's Facilities Director this year. He is currently a sophomore, double majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, and aims to pursue a PhD in Neural Engineering after graduation. He is also the President of the student chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society, and he is a facilitator for the Freshmen Emerging Leadership Program. When not studying or partying it up in Slivka, Holden enjoys his marathon training as well as intramural athletics, volleyball in particular. He's also a Nintendo fanboy through and through. His favorite parts about campus life also include Dance Marathon and football games. Go 'Cats!
IT Chair: Ben Rothman
Ben is currently a Sophomore double majoring in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. In his spare time he enjoys Rubik's Cubes, memorizing pi, and recreating the entire Northwestern Evanston campus in Minecraft. When he isn't busy studying and/or browsing Reddit, Ben also volunteers weekly at RefugeeOne, an after school tutoring program for refugee youth located in Rogers Park. (Ben is the one on the right, by the way)
Historian: Mattie Biggs
Mattie is really excited to be the Historian for Slivka! She is currently a freshman studying chemistry, on the pre-med track. On campus, Mattie is also involved in Chi Omega sorority and Harmony in Spirit, the premiere Christian a capella group. At home, she has five horses, and loves to show them! A fun fact about her is that she is named after the leading lady in the John Wayne movie, "True Grit!"
